Jackson Connell

Jackson is an 18-year old sailor from Wayzata, Minnesota. He sailed for 9 years with the local Community Sailing Center and the Wayzata High School team sailing Optis, Lasers, and 420s. Last year, as an A-team skipper, he placed 3rd at Great Oaks and 4th at the NIT Team Race. Over the past two year, he’s also been racing on a J/22, doing everything from bow to helm.

He spends his summers training at Oakcliff Sailing Center; last year he did the High Performance Acorn program and this year he did the Inshore Program where he got to helm a Grade 4 Match Race Regatta. Later this summer he will also be doing Oakcliff’s Foiling camp. He is keen to get as much experience as he can on different types of boats. In the future he wants to sail in college and work in the sailing industry, possibly as a sailmaker or a rigger.

During the winter, he enjoys playing ice hockey at his local rink and he heavily follows his favorite team, the Washington Capitals.
