Eric Wynsma has generously donated again, this time a Farr 400. While the Farr 400 is a bit smaller than the OC86 that we trained and sailed on the Great Lakes in 2021, it allows us to offer a third summer of Midwest programming. The bonus of having a smaller sailboat for summer 2023 is the program will be led by the very same trainees who raced OC86 and the Farr 400. While Oakcliff is on the Great Lakes we will also be able to spend some time doing outreach with local junior and community sailing programs.
This awesome program is a 36-day long freshwater experience encompassing two major events: the Port Huron and the Chicago Mackinac races as well as the infamous “You Gotta’ Regatta” race in beautiful Harbor Springs Michigan. Athletes in this program will be fully involved in the preparation, practicing (at Bayview) racing, and maintaining this boat. *note we highly recommend athletes participate in all sessions but can be somewhat flexible in start and finish times.
Trainees will learn:
