Oakcliff Sailing Center is proud to offer thousands of dollars each year in tuition assistance to trainees. Scholarships are available to Saplings who show potential and desire to become significant leaders and contributors to the development of Sailing, and motivated Acorn trainees who would be unable to attend without financial aid.
Scholarships are made available by generous individual donations from Oakcliff supporters, parents, and alumni in recognition of Oakcliff’s contribution to the sport of sailing. Consider making a contribution to the Acorn and Sapling Scholarship Fund.
America True was a 501(c)(3) foundation led by Dawn Riley that promoted the joys of sailing to young people nationwide. The America True Youth Program was born in 1997 while CEO Dawn Riley was campaigning for the 2000 America’s Cup. Under Dawn’s direction, America True was the first syndicate in history to be headed by a woman, and the first to have a co-ed crew. Our motto, “If you can dream it, you can do it”, carried the team through a strong showing in the semifinal round of the Louis Vuitton Cup. But the motto and the spirit of the crew left an even stronger legacy. While America True no longer participates in the America’s Cup, the group has been more dedicated than ever to sharing the life lessons of sailing with youth throughout the United States. “If you can dream it, you can do it”!
Since Oakcliff Sailing, also led by Dawn Riley, continues to grow and holds similar beliefs, America True has decided to continue its legacy by awarding Oakcliff Sailing scholarships to graduates of community sailing programs.
While there is no deadline for financial aid applications, scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Financial aid review occurs after admissions decisions are made, in the order the applications for aid were received. We may request additional information before a decision is made.
