Happy Fourth of July from the Vanquish!

Happy Fourth of July from the Vanquish!

Well, no hot dogs or hamburgers, but we are having a nice day of reaching along in 15-18kt SWerly. We were hoping for running conditions by this time, but it looks like we have one more night before we free up. Have to apologize to the fishing fleet [or maybe vice versa] for whatever was caught on our keel […twice!!].  I hope it was nothing important – but at least we know we can sail the Vanquish backwards at midnight in the fog.  Had to back down once around midnight, and then again at 9am to clear floating net fragments from the keel fin.  Both times the bits came free on their own, so no “swimmer of the watch” excitment. Everything else is great – the boat and crew are dry and happy!  Waiting for nightfall to really celebrate the 4th – Benny Allen brought some sparklers [wheee!].  We’ll try not to get too crazy…   Vanquish 42 36.6n 65 35.1w
