Katherine Mattikow

Katherine is from New York City, and started racing J24s on the Hudson River at age 14, progressing to helm/tactician of the Polaris Race Team. She raced on Young American, J105, as main trimmer. Katherine frostbites in Cook 11 dinghies at the American Yacht Club. She placed third in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers on Incisor, a Corby 45, in 2018. She has done numerous other offshore passages including the Mediterranean, round Block Island, and the Solent. Katherine earned her Yachtmaster Coastal at age 17, and she is currently a full time remote student at SUNY Maritime College, where she was a sailing recruit, with a major in International Transportation and Trade. She also has a background in tall ship sailing, celestial navigation, and advanced chartplotting.

Katherine is excited to explore the discipline of skiff sailing at Oakcliff. She hopes to cross the Pacific, and eventually circumnavigate. She hopes to sail the doublehanded offshore event in the Olympics. When she is not on the water, Katherine studies foreign languages, practices figure skating, and paints.
