Oakcliff is among the world’s best match racing centers. We use our ten Swedish Match 40′s regularly for drills, clinics and regattas. There is no quicker way to increase your skill level than the on-the-water chess game that is match racing. The bay is alive with energy when this fleet is on the water.
Drills
On Tuesday evenings in the spring, summer and autumn, Oakcliff supporters take to the water on our Match 40s for a variety of drills. We practice sets, douses, the dial up, mark roundings, the lead/push, clearing penalties, and much more. With on-the-water coaching and umpires, everyone ups their game on Tuesdays.
Clinics
Combine some of the best match racers from around the country and the only fleet of Match 40s in North America, and you get one superb learning opportunity. Oakcliff offers a number of clinics, from Intro to Match Racing to our Advanced Clinic. There’s also a youth clinic for young sailors who don’t have the time to attend the full Acorn/Sapling program. Most clinics end in a regatta so participants can put their new skills to the test.
Regattas
In 2012, Oakcliff will host six Grade 5 match races, five Grade 4′s, three Grade 3′s, and a Grade 2 international invitational. This is the place to earn your ISAF skipper ranking points, sail responsive and powerful Match 40s, and compete against some of the best in the world.
Seminars
Finally, Oakcliff offers seminars for umpires, race officials, and sailors who wish to become certified as an umpire or official. Please see our calendar for a full listing.
