It’s not all match racing here at Oakcliff. We also provide fleet racing opportunities to our supporters. Fleet racing takes place primarily in the fall and spring aboard our six Melges 24s and 3 Ker-designed IRC boats. Sometimes it’s an American Yacht Club IRC series; sometimes it’s a Melges regatta hosted by Oakcliff. Whichever, we never forget the joys of a big fleet and fierce competition.
During the summer, we send our Shields to compete in Sagamore Yacht Club’s Wednesday evening racing, accompanied by an Oakcliff coach boat (with special permission from Sagamore). You’ll be amazed at how quickly you improve with regular coaching, and soon you’ll be joining us for Tuesday night match racing.
On Thursday evenings, our classics participate in Oyster Bay Classics Racing, which is generally a pursuit-start race out of Oyster Bay into Long Island Sound and back — sometimes twice around, depending on wind.
Make sure you check out our calendar for other fleet racing opportunities.
