Curriculum

The Oakcliff curriculum runs the gamut of knowledge needed to make a life in the world of sailing. If you want to own a marina, race across oceans, install marine electronics, or anything in between, you can learn it at Oakcliff. Click the image above to access the full curriculum outline.

For race training, Oakcliff primarily uses match racing to improve boat handling, tactical skill and wind reading.  For offshore sailing: the best way to train is to actually do it.  Oakcliff students typically spend mornings in the classroom learning about composites, navigation, or a myriad of other topics needed to race boats well.  In the afternoon, they’re in the shop, getting hands-on instruction in the maintenance and fabrication techniques they need to be lifelong sailors.  Every night (and windy days), all students go sailing.

On Fridays, Oakcliff usually presents a guest instructor teaching a specialized seminar.  Whether it’s Dave Perry teaching match racing, Peter “Luigi” Reggio teaching race management, or Simon Schofield teaching design concepts, you know that you’re learning from the best at Oakcliff.
