Dave Perry
Dave Perry is the highest ranked US sailor on the ISAF Match Racing Ranking List and coach for the US Sailing Team Alphagraphics women’s match race team, winners of the Gold Medal at the 2010 Miami Olympic Classes Regatta. One of the top rules experts in the world, Dave brings his unique teaching style, sense of humor, and vast rules knowledge to Oakcliff Sailing.

 

Donn Costanzo
A graduate of Lance Lee’s Apprenticeshop, ’79, Donn is a wooden yacht builder and restorer. He is a native Long Islander who spent many years of his career in Europe restoring some of the world’s finest classic yachts; Altair, Clio, Al ‘ Blanche, etc. He now owns and operates Wooden Boatworks with his brother Bruce Wahl in Aquebogue and Greenport, New York.


David Halliwill
David is managing partner of Tomahawke Capital and President of Haeligewielle, a holding company now based in New York. A devotee of both modern racing and classic wooden yachts, David crewed to win national championships in multiple one-design classes, and three consecutive victories in the Rolex St. Francis Yacht Club Big Boat Series. He enjoys racing everything from dinghies to Open 60s. Previous experience includes founding Halliwill, a strategy and creative office, two decades of international enterprise brand consulting, and a sabbatical in organic farming.

 

Bryan Lawrence
Bryan Lawrence, a life-long dinghy sailor, is the founder of Oakcliff Capital, an investment firm. He is also a co-founder of Girls Prep, the first all-girls charter school in New York, and is board chair of Public Prep, which is building a network of single-sex charter schools. Prior work experience includes time as a clam digger on Long Island’s Great South Bay.

 

Corey Lawrence
Corey Lawrence Halliwill has been sailing since before she could walk. In her teens she raced Thistles and Sunfish, and was a head sailing instructor on the Great South Bay , NY where she taught on CC Mercuries, 420’s, and Sunfish. A graduate of Hamilton College , Corey is currently an investor, a sailor and is continuing her education, working toward a MA in Educational Psychology at NYU Steinhardt. Since 2000, Corey has been competitively racing larger boats on the Long Island Sound and East Coast. These include Soverel 33’s, Shields, Far 40’s, J/120s, Swedish Match 40’s and Interclub Dinghies. Her favorite crew positions are pit, main, mast and helm. She was a member of the 2007 IRC National championship crew on the Ker 11.3. Corey is committed to building a dynamic environment for exposing individuals to a wide range of race boat training and promoting the development of sailing industry professionals. She considers sailing to be an important activity that promotes teamwork, lasting friendships and a love for our coasts and maritime traditions.

Ralf Steitz
America’s Cup veteran and world class sailor Ralf Steitz was born and began sailing on Hegoland, a small German island in the rugged North Sea. Ralf was recruited to race on grand prix boats in Europe and the United States before settling down in the Port Washington area. Ralf is currently DIrector of Sailing at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and manages to split his time between King’s Point and warmer racing climates including the Caribbean and Florida often accompanied by his wife Jamie, a top lawyer and an excellent sailor in her own right.
